Merely passing a heat gun across cut edges does no good as the additional heat actually releases the adhesive and accelerates edge shrinkage. The final stroke with a squeegee as the film cools assures the adhesive bond is reestablished at the highest level of surface contact. Also, the boards will need to be sanded before and after the primer is applied with steel wool or 220 grit sandpaper. A final cleaning prior to application with a 50% mix of water and isopropyl alcohol will insure that the paint is dust free and ready for installation.
